SIGNIFICANT RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

 

United States International Trade Commission - 2012
Dr Mailer was invited and presented a testimony on olive oil authenticity at the International Trade Commission in Washington DC, USA in December 2012.


European Union Workshop on Adulteration in Olive Oil - 2013
He was invited to present a paper on olive oil testing and fraud at the European Union (EU) workshop on authenticity, Madrid, 2013


Codex Alimentarius - 2013
He attended the Codex Alimentarius Fats and Oils division meeting, in Malaysia in February 2013 as a Technical Expert to Codex Australia


Codex Alimentarius - 2015
He attended the Codex Alimentarius Fats and Oils division meeting, in Malaysia in February 2015 as a Technical Expert to Codex Australia

 

ISO Fats and Oils - 2014
He attended the meeting of the ISO TC 34; SC2 and SC11, “Fats and oils” and “Oilseeds” in Berlin, Germany as the Australian Representative in May, 2014.


ISO Fats and Oils - 2015
He attended the meeting of the ISO TC 34; SC2 and SC11, “Fats and oils” and “Oilseeds” in Gouda, Netherlands as the Australian Representative in September, 2015.

 

Californian Olive Oil Commission – 2014
He was invited and presented a testimony at a hearing of the Californian Department of Food & Agriculture to support the adoption of a new trading standard for olive oil in California.

 

Legal Cases – 2012 -
Dr. Mailer has been involved in over 6 class actions and legal claims on both canola and olive oil in the last three years.  These have been in San Francisco, New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Sydney, Australia.

 

GCIRC International Rapeseed Congress
Dr Mailer attended the 15th International Rapeseed Congress in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in July, 2015.  He attended the Executive Board meeting and presented a competitive bid to host the 17th International Rapeseed Congress in Sydney in 2023.  The bid was successful and Dr Mailer will now work with Business Events Australia, The Australian Oilseed Federation and the organizing committee to host the 2023 IRC Congress.

 

AOCS 2014 - San Antonio, Texas
Dr Mailer attended the 2014 AOCS Annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas at which he was made a Fellow of the AOCS.

 

AOCS May 2015 Orlando
Dr Mailer was invited to chair a session on food safety at the 2015 AOCS Annual Meeting.  He presented a paper on olive oil adulteration at the Meeting.

 

Australian Oilseed Federation Standards
Dr Mailer was contracted to review and update the Technical and Trading Standards of the Australian Oilseed Federation to bring them in line with International Standards
